Our Work

Primarily, income generation-oriented skill building has been used as one of the core strategies by APSS as an agent of basic change in the status of women. With economic empowerment, skill building is playing a positive role in the empowerment of women.  Further, our community-oriented strategies promote financial literacy and economic growth, with due emphasis on skill development, gender sensitization, community counselling centres, and banking literacy. Since its inception, Apurva has successfully formed over 850 self-help groups (SHGs) in the Thane district. The women are trained in various skills such as tailoring, embroidery, and beauty courses and provided and trained in various financial and business management aspects for the effective and independent management of their financial needs. We have a community counselling centre, and a placement and entrepreneurship cell and organize regular sessions on the importance of health and hygiene. Some of our popular and community friendly initiatives are:
