APURVA MAHILA SAMAJIK SANSTHA

Apurva Mahila Samajik Sanstha (AMSS) is a social development organization working for the last 20 years with underprivileged populations such as scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and women engaged in domestic work and commercial sex work in Thane district, Maharashtra. AMSS works to create positive and long-term change in the lives of communities living in miserable and unequal conditions. The organization was founded in 2004 under the Societies Registration Act 1860 and The Bombay Trust Act 1950. The organization is committed to enhancing the self-esteem and self-confidence of women by developing their ability to think critically and fostering decision-making and action through a collective process.  AMSS through increased participation, of women is building a positive image of women by recognizing their contribution to society.

  • No of women getting employment after skill building training 278
  • No of women mobilized and trained as conductors 125
  • 30000 migrant populations and 1500 women in sex work receiving HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and referral services
  • 40 women in sex work and 38 migrants living with HIV are receiving Anti-Retroviral Treatment
  • We have successfully formed over 850 self-help groups to provide financial independence to women
